I personally hate them, hate the buttons, hate the layout.
HTC are nice phones, most Samsungs are decent too, but I have an iPhone which is brilliant (might be out of your price bracket though, as they do cost more than most phones.)

Blackberrys are brilliant.
I prefer them to the Iphone/HTC.
Blackberry Messenger is the whole selling point. Whats App and various other tools really dont compare.
If you have friends with Blackberrys then its a no brainer. You get loads of banter with BBM. Plus its great for meeting girls.
It does everything an Iphone 4 can do and has BBM.
I'd recommend the 9780 Bold, in black (white gets so dirty) or the BB Torch. They are pretty much the same except the Torch is touch screen.

I'd recommend a Blackberry too, BBM is great and the only thing i'd swap my blackberry for is an iPhone

I wouldn't even swap my blackberry for an iPhone if I got offered to be honest, as I hate touch screen for typing!
