I have just updated to the new java and it has messed up using funky snooker.

Everything is about 30 seconds delayed if it works at all.

Any suggestions

Posted from our community page:

Please note to all our new funky friends that the newest java and chrome doesn't currently work on this site but we are hoping the owner will fix it at some point

As a substitute please use any Java under Version 8 Update 32
8u31: http://www.itechtics.com/download-java-8-update-31.../
7: http://java.com/en/download/manual_java7.jsp

Also please uninstall Chrome and download Opera, Firefox or Torch

Torch: http://www.torchbrowser.com/
Opera: http://www.opera.com
Firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/firefox/new/

Personal Preference is Java 8u31 and Opera

On a side note Torch is 4 times the size of Opera

If you still want to use Chrome there is a temp fix but will be blocked later in the year (still use the java method above)

Details here: http://blog.chromium.org/.../saying-goodbye-to-our-old...

Also to get Google Chrome working again with Java after it says it is not supported do this.

Open a new window in Google Chrome and in your URL/address bar enter this :

chrome://flags/#enable-npapi

Click the Enable link for the Enable NPAPI configuration option. (1st one)

Click the Relaunch button that now appears at the bottom of the configuration page.

Hope this Helps

Well it seems that the newest java update might have fixed the problems for now. Game works fine with firefox and java 8u51 for me. Maybe someone can confirm?

I updated to 8u51 and tried to connect to the game server on Firefox and it's still not working.. The security box pops up and when I click run it freezes everything. So I uninstalled java and re-downloaded 8u31 and it's fine again.
I doubt this version of java will ever work for some people. Either the site owner needs to make some modifications to make the site compatible with the new java update or people continue using an older version of java until a compatible update is released.

Hope this helps

It will happen when the game wants to load "an extra resource" which is usually a custom cue from you opponent.

You can lower your security settings in the mixed code section of the advanced tab on the java contron panel and add funky snooker to the exception list in java but this tends only to reduce the crashes.

Best bet for the moment is to follow the advise above and downgrade your java version

Yahooo!!!
The game is back!
Today is 22.10.15, I have just updated java, the latest upgrade. Since oooo, about two months before windows 10, this game has been terrible for me, I have been unable to play any type of cut which meant I was missing shots I used to get. The reason was that... the floating white circle and the cross-hair were floating separately, I found it impossible to break build or get shots I once used to get.
I was going off the game BIG time. HOWEVER! Today I downloaded the very latest version of java using windows 10 and voila!!! I can pot again...or rather, I have confidence in the cursor and I'm sure i'll be able to get my game back now. Maybe people will start coming back rather than having to wait for someone to play.
Have fun everyone, the latest java worked for me - AT LAST!

Only for a few months though, Mozilla plan to go down the same route in 2016.

Frustrating as it may be, it is just common sense as web API's are so insecure and really very few still exist.

If thats true then its the death of funky approaching for me, if all four major browsers do this then where does that leave funky?

Nick needs to take note and try and code in another language

I have been compiling some statistics for my thesis and this one may be of interest. The already very small number of sites using browser based api's has been dropping steadily since 2010, and is now almost irrelevant. Even the once dominant flash is now drifting into obscurity.

http://w3techs.com/technologies/history_overview/client_side_language/all

Its interesting how some still think it is worth the hassle and lack of security just to play an old online game, especially given the amount of alternatives. Great study material
