Pffft, What does it matter if you support your local team or not? I'm born in South Wales and i'll tell you why i support Man Utd. They wore red (my favourite colour) and Lee Sharp played for them (my name is also Lee) It doesn't take much influence for a boy of 5 to choose a favourite a team.
Harold, If your dad took you to a PSV or Ajax game rather than a Groningen one, there is a good chance you would have supported them. Local or not. (No idea how far away that is from your place of residence but that isn't my point)

It's boring when people learn that you support a 'big' team and churn out the same:
"Support Real teams!" "support your locals"

yawn

Different opinion fur sure; no probs.
If i was born in Utrecht it would have been FC utrecht, in Plymouth for sure Argyle. About influence of young boys....they often choose for the "champions" and not the locals...also you see them changing clubs very easy....In my opinion its too easy to "choose" for the big teams....cheering 90% of the matches......
As a Groningen fan im not only proud of my club....but also the city and region.....a "forensic" fan will never have that.

Ajax is like Man Utd a bit....many fans around the country....when their results are dissapointing....stadium is only filled 50% then.
Locals give true support

cheers

Im Irish and i follow Manchester United, But its not as if i dont like my local team, ask daragh im always goin on about Sporting Fingal, Im from Blanchardstown and thats in Fingal, funny enough, when i moved from Blanchardstown so did Sporting, now they play in Morton Stadium which is about 10 mins walk from my house, I dont go to see them, but in all fairness Irish league football is Crap.

Plus Liverpool supporters that say United fans are glory hunters are quite thick, because most of them that say this are in and around their 20s-30s, which when they were a boy Liverpool were the dominant team in English football.
So why say glory hunter if it makes you one?

Wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, just I'v been called a glory hunter by Liverpool fans before.
