A man leaves for work every morning from his penthouse suite gets in the lift and presses the button for the ground floor and off he goes to work. When he comes home he gets in the lift and presses the 8th floor button and then walks up the stairs for four floors to the twelve floor.
Why does he do that ?

Let us resurrect this thread.
After teaching his class all about roman numerals (X = 10, IX=9 and so on) the teacher asked his class to draw a single continuous line and turn IX into 6. The only stipulation the teacher made was that the pen could not be lifted from the paper until the line was complete.
