Events for season 1 of Carom tour.

Carom open
( format best of 3, final best of 5)

Carom masters
(format best of 9, final best of 17)

Carom doubles league
(format; A random draw will be done to decide the 8 pairs then each pair will play each other once. games will be first to 3.
3 points if both players win there game.. If 1 from each doubles win a game then it will count as a draw and will receive 1 point.

How to win
Example
doubles pair 1 vs doubles pair 2
doubles pair 1 vs doubles pair 2

both of pair 1 must win to receive 3 points.
If 1 player from pair 1 and 1 player from pair 2 win a game each then it will count as a draw..
Top 2 of the league will go through and play in the final.






Carom championship
(format 4 groups of 4; each will play each other once in a race to 4 and top 2 of each group will proceed into a knockout draw.

Carom aces (format will be similar to tennis, To win your game u must get 3 frames ahead of your opponent, game ends when 1 player as a 3 frame lead)

Elite 8
This will be last event of the season and will only include the top 8 ranked players so if u wanna be part of this then you have to have a good season..

whats ranking for each event davey? Elite tournament should be no ranking points in my view

Proposed Ranking Scale.

x0 - Elite 8 (Non Ranked)
x1 - Open
x2 - Aces, Doubles, Championship
x3 - Masters

e.g. For x1 Ranking

Winner 250
Runner Up 150
Semi 75
Quarter 50
Round 1: 25

so for x2 double the above and for x3 triple above

the other idea would be to download buddytobuds ranking calculator for snooker (don't know how far buddy was into it) but it is here: http://skydrive.live.com/?cid=cbe9e16217e9b33e&id=CBE9E16217E9B33E%21114&sc=documents and could do a ranking system based on that.

some thoughts about the rankings. these proportions are the same as what are in the tennis tournaments:

Round1: 18
QF: 36
SF: 72
Runner-up: 120
Winner: 200

For group stages (championship): 12 starting ponts, +12 for every group stage win, +36 for a QF win, +48 for a SF win, +80 for the final win. 188, 200 and 212 are the possible final points for the winner depends on the wins in the group stage.

And as dgen said x2 or x3 depends on the tourny.

Also, if everyone plays everyone in the double league it would take too long - 8 fixtures including the final, for example the knock-out torunaments would be 4 fixtures all in all. So i think it would be better if the pairs are split into 2 groups of 4 and the top 2 proceed to SF. The ranking system for such tournament could be 24 starting points, +24 for every group stage win, +48 for a SF win, +80 for the final win that would lead to 176, 200 or 224 points for the winner.

Yer i think both ranking systems would work well i think it depends on what dgen can get to work automatically we will use..

I was also thinking about the doubles league it may take too long to get every double to play each other.. So depending on what dgen thinks we could do what etarvt as suggested 2 groups of 4 and top 2 go into semi final.

If we cant do it automatically then after every event i will just add them up after the event is finished..

nah has to be entered manually. do you want...

a) ranking points (e.g. winner 200, 2nd 100)
b) a funky based ranking for each event with a overall ranking starting from 675 (open 800.0 masters 750.0 overall 775)
c) funky based ranking starting from 675 where the rank changes for each frame in the tournament (e.g. open 680 then masters 660, aces 670 etc)
