had xbox stood up, knocked it over and its scratched the disk so bad and now it wont play

My dog knocked mine over within 2 mins of me taking it out of the box having just got it back from the xbox factory getting the motherboard repaired.

was ok but luckily..for the dog.

We've tried all that and it still aint working, so going to have to send it off and wait a couple of weeks...

You have the red ring of death. Your only option is to send it away to be fixed but a lot of the time they can't fix it and the warranty doesn't cover it. 3 red lights mean it's an internal hardware issue.

I got 1 red light once which is the next bad one to 3 but only now and again, it's not regular. Think this means it's an error in the system but not positive.

2 red lights is mainly caused by overheating which can be fixed.

4 red lights mean one of the cables isn't in properly and is the easiest to fix.

The actual Red Ring of Death is when you get 3 lights flashing. It's named this because your pretty much screwed if it happens.

If you get one, it's harder to fix but possible. You could try unpluging every connection to your xbox and wait 10 mins an re-plug. Another thing you can try is removing the hard drive and see what happens then. If your lucky, when you switch the console on, it should give you an error number (e.g. E72) and you could look it up on the internet and find your problem. In the worst of cases i'd suggest calling microsoft and see what they say.

my dad watched E-72/E-74 (not sure which) on youtube, fixed it but 10 mins later went back off again.

I got this before, happened about 4 times within 2 days but not had it since and i have no idea how i fixed it. One thing i did notice though is it happened with certain games and not others.
